The star of the hit TV show Gotham was admitted to a hospital for an eye exam on Monday, and is being treated for the condition, according to TMZ.
The diagnosis of bipolar disorder was not made public at the time of the visit, but it is being closely watched by other members of the cast, including Robin Lord Taylor and Jessica Henwick.
“He’s being evaluated for bipolar disorder,” a source close to the actor told TMZ.
“There is no way he’s going to be out of this by the end of the week.”
While it is unclear if this diagnosis is related to the upcoming Gotham season, the actress previously revealed that she’s been diagnosed with “anxiety disorder” and “anorexia.”
“It’s not that I’m not healthy,” she told Entertainment Weekly at the premiere of the upcoming season.
“It is that I’ve been taking medications and I’m going to take a break from it for a while.
I’ve taken more medication in the last year than I’ve had in my life.”
The actress also told E!
that she will be “off the meds” for a few months.
“I’m on my meds,” she said.
“And I’m still getting through it.
I’m off the med to get through this, and I want to do the best that I can to keep my sanity.”
According to TMZ, Taylor was asked if he was taking his medication and said, “Yes, I am.”
“I don’t think there’s any reason that a guy who has been doing this for so long and who has a beautiful wife, who is a mom, who has done so much to support him and his family, would take it,” the source continued.
“In his case, that’s something that’s never been really addressed.
There’s been no one in his family who has gotten diagnosed with bipolar disorder.”
Taylor also said that he has had “mental health issues,” and “tried to hide” them.
“As long as I have my med,” he said.
“[My mother] has a bipolar disorder.
I do not.
I try to hide it.”
The source went on to say that he had a long history of bipolar, and “didn’t really know” why he was in the hospital, but that he did not “feel safe around him.”
“He just needed a break,” the insider said.
The actor also shared a photo of his daughter, Bella, in her hospital gown, and wrote, “I am thankful that my daughter was a part of this moment and that I am with her now.”
He added that he was not worried about being a burden on his daughter.
“She’s not a burden.
She’s my daughter,” he wrote.
“The one thing I’m concerned about is that if she ever needs help, that she needs to be able to talk to someone.
She needs to talk.”
The actor is also facing a legal battle over his divorce from his wife of more than 15 years, Kim.
“This whole thing is a lie.
It’s a scam.
He’s got a lawyer.
He was doing this on his own time,” the actor wrote on Twitter.
Taylor is currently filming Gotham Season 2, which will air in 2018.
“My lawyers have advised me that I have a right to have my attorney look at the facts,” he tweeted.
“If the facts are correct, they will take that to the judge and have it dismissed.
I don’t need this to be a huge distraction.”
