Texas vets are calling on their peers in the healthcare field to consider coding as a career option.
They’re calling it the “most important profession in healthcare” after a new study found that coding jobs outpaced healthcare as a whole.
The study, published in the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, said more than 100,000 Americans and Canadians had been coders over the past year.
And they’re finding more coders are choosing to enter the field.
It’s not just the coding field that’s picking up new coders.
The profession of dental assistant has been on the rise in the U.S. and Canada.
That’s according to a survey conducted by the American Dental Association.
In 2018, there were about 2.3 million dental assistants in the United States and about 2 million in Canada, according to the association.
The dentists are getting better at coding.
In 2018, about 13 percent of the profession’s members were coding.
That figure has doubled in the last five years.
That number will increase to 22 percent by 2025, according the association, which also said coding is increasingly appealing to professionals who are more focused on a short-term pay boost.
